In January 2026, we will introduce our most ambitious project yet, Tafsir Intensive. Tafsir Intensive is a multiyear structured online tafsir program that will take students on a transformative journey through the Qur’an and its teachings. The course will be available exclusively to paid members of the website (any tier). You can learn more about our membership options here.

Course Objectives

Tafsir Intensive will focus on a detailed study of the Qur’an, aimed at mid-level students. It will not be too academic or too basic, but aimed at those with some familiarity with the Qur’an and Islamic Sciences to help them build their understanding of the Qur’an. Over a multiyear period, we hope to achieve the following with Allah’s Permission and Assistance:

Increase the love and appreciation of the Qur’an and Islam in the hearts of every student
Establish firm conviction in the miraculous nature of the Qur’an and the truth of Islam
Gain familiarity with authentic approaches to Tafsir and how to utilize them to understand the Qur’an deeper
Extract practical lessons from the Qur’an to apply in our day-to-day lives
Gain an appreciation and familiarity with the various sources of, authors of, and books of Tafsir.

Course Structure and Methodology

The course will focus primarily on weekly on-demand video lessons, released every Thursday. There will be a monthly live session to take questions and dive deeper into the lessons. The curriculum for the first year of study will focus on the following:

An in-depth introduction to tafsir, its various sciences, approaches, and books
An academic rebuttal to common criticisms and doubts raised about the Qur’an
An intensive in-depth tafsir of Surah al-Fatiha
An intensive in-depth tafsir of Surah al-Baqarah

The tafsir approach of this course will utilize three important tafsir methodologies (narration, opinion, and thematic study) drawing from various classical and contemporary works to provide an in-depth holistic understanding of the Qur’an.

Tafsir al-Qurtubi
Tafsir Ibn Ashur
Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Tafsir al-Tabari
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
Fath al-Qadir
Tafhim al-Qur’an
A Thematic Commentary on the Quran
Qur’an 30for30: Thematic Tafsir
In the Shade of the Qur’an

Many of these books, which have been translated into English, are available as free pdf downloads for students of the course.
